Introduction to Nature Illustration
Nature illustration sits at the meeting point of art and observation. In this class you’ll learn to study the form, colour and texture of natural subjects and translate what you see into a detailed coloured pencil drawing. Techniques include accurate sketching, subtle shading and building layers of colour.
This is a slower-paced class, allowing time to focus closely on one subject across the term as you refine your drawing and develop depth and realism. The process requires patience, but many students find it a calm and deeply rewarding way to connect with nature through art.

NATURE illustration (Intermediate)
In this course, you will learn to create detailed illustrations of natural subjects using coloured pencils. Subjects may include plants, fungi, birds, wood, and other organic forms.
Through structured lessons, you'll develop key skills in sketching, shading, colour layering, and texturing to bring your drawings to life.
Through the term you will delve into different aspects of drawing such as:
Accurate Sketching and Proportions
Shading and Depth
Colour Identification and Layering
Texturing Natural Surfaces and Fine Details
Throughout the process of collaborative learning, you'll work on shared illustration exercises and projects and receive support and insights from your fellow class-mates.
By the end of the term, you will have completed one or more detailed natural subject illustrations and be equipped with the skills to continue exploring coloured pencil techniques in your future artwork.
