HAND-building & wheel-throwing
From basics to advanced. Tour of the space, guidelines and safety in the ceramic environment. Students start off with different ways of using clay techniques to create a form/vessel.
Demonstration of basic wheel throwing and creation of a cylinder step by step and more complex forms depending on the student’s skills and interests then on to hand building including slab, coil and pinch pots, texture and decoration of the surface.
Fridays 10:00am to 12:00pm

From basics to advanced. The class begins with an introduction to wheel throwing and students are given the opportunity to learn with step by step assistance. Beginning with basic cylinders and bowls and turning the bases; handles, lids and more complex techniques are taught depending on student interest and requests.
Hand building techniques covered include, pinch, coil and slab building and a variety of surface decorating and glazing techniques are introduced. If students have a particular project in mind they are encouraged to bring an image and they will be helped to create their own pieces from their inspiration. Beginning with simple forms, students progresses at their own pace and are assisted in making pieces of their choice.
