Our Open Studio session is perfect for students wishing to unleash their creative potential, without boundaries or supervision.

Japanese ink
Sumi-e is the ancient art of Japanese brush painting. Traditionally, paintings feature subjects from nature, such as flowers and birds.
You will learn to feel and capture the meaning of objects from nature with your interpretation then you will express the objects variously with brush pressure, rhythm, tones and confidence in your strokes. There is much more to creating an image during the process of Japanese ink painting; it is also meditative practice.
The experience of Sumi-e brings a sense of peace and harmony to the artist, and finished artworks are created to arouse the same sense of joy and tranquility in the viewer.

Creative Abstraction - Thinking & Making
Step into the wonderfully colourful world of abstract art! In this fun, no-pressure short course, you’ll experiment with shapes, splashes, smudges and all the delicious chaos that comes with creating art that doesn’t have to look like anything at all.
We’ll take inspiration from legends like Mark Rothko, who made colours feel like emotions, and Wassily Kandinsky, who basically painted music. Along the way, you’ll try out bold colour play, loose mark-making, layering, and mixed-media magic—always with plenty of room to follow your instincts and break a few “rules.”
Whether you’re new to art or just want to loosen up and explore, this course is all about discovering your own abstract voice, having fun, and enjoying the creative ride.

Join experienced teacher Sarjit in a fun, relaxed environment where you can get expert guidance on your own projects, whether it is stitching, knitting or crochet.
If you have existing experience with these crafts you’re welcome to share expertise and contribute to the group.
