Pen & Wash - (Wed 4th Feb - 25th March , 10am - 12:30pm)
This pen and wash course explores mostly urban scenes, benefiting those who admire buildings and cities. Based on basic material, the methods used, together with practice, will quickly enable you to develop creativity and imagination.
Each term will be a different and educational experience, designed for you to achieve the best results in the shortest period.
At the same time, studies of composition, perspective and figure work will be added in to form a wide understanding. Various techniques will be introduced and short demonstrations will be done throughout. This course will definitely improve your skills to bring the urban scenes to life.

Realism - Monochromatic - (Wed 4th Feb - 25th March, 6:30pm - 8:30pm)
In this workshop, we’ll dive head-first into the world of realistic portrait painting with acrylics.
Supporting artists from the ground-up, this course builds foundational skills in form and value, with learners gaining familiarity in the handling of acrylic paint.
With a focus on light and shade, the course will begin by breaking down the forms with a value study of our reference. With a clear understanding of the structure of our shapes, we’ll then render a finished painting with a level of complexity that achieves the illusion of life.
Learners will come away with a black and white portrait and a nuanced understanding of value and light. Though some experience in painting is ideal, this class is beginner friendly.

TAI CHI BEGINNERS - (Tues 3rd Feb - 24th March, 9:45am - 10:45am)
Tai Chi is a recreational fitness form of flowing movements designed to exercise and develop the body and mind in unison. The movements are performed in a slow dream-like pace, with deep concentration and diaphragmatic breathing to transport one into a state of tranquil relaxation.
Tai Chi utilises the principle of non-physical exertion and internal organ exercise by way of corrective breathing, controlled stretching and gentle artistic movement to improve strength and balance.

STRETCH & FLOW YOGA - (Thurs 5th Feb - 26th March, 8:30am - 9:30am)
A combination of the fluidity of flow yoga, where poses are linked together in a continuous movement with deep static stretches of a stretch. Aiming to improve strength, flexibility and building muscle strength.

Qigong - (Thurs 5th Feb - 26th March, 11am - 11:45)
Qigong is a traditional Chinese practice that combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention to cultivate and balance the body's vital energy, known as "qi."
It is often used for health maintenance, therapeutic purposes, and spiritual advancement. The methods of Qigong typically involve a series of gentle movements that are easy to learn and perform, making them accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. Techniques include static poses, dynamic movements, controlled breathing, and meditation. With a focus on aligning the body, mind, and breath to enhance the flow of qi, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being.
Regular practice of Qigong is believed to improve circulation, flexibility, and balance, while also fostering mental clarity and emotional serenity. There are numerous styles of Qigong, each with its own specific techniques and emphasis.

Contemporary Art Through Making - (Thurs 5th March - 26th March, 10am - 12pm)
Contemporary Art Through Making is a fun and engaging short course that explores four Australian women artists, their techniques and concepts. Through this easy breezy investigation of collage, pop culture references, interiors and the material nature of painting, students will find the freedom to celebrate their own creative voices within their art marking.
Each week we will explore an artist and their processes and consider the concepts they explore in their art making. Students will respond to each theme in painting and/or collage and complete a canvas during the class. At the end of the course students will have four complete canvases showcasing their work.

Abstraction - Learning from the Tide of History - (6th March - 20th March, 1pm - 3pm)
This 3 week course will use discussion of art through history as a basis for understanding elements of composition, colour and mood.
This will be a basis to create your own abstract work and explore your creativity.
Classes will involve discussion of the work and life of influential artists as well as demonstration and practical tips for making work. There will be a chance to get feedback on what you are making as well.
The aim is to provide some inspiration as a basis for exploration in your painting. Artists discussed include Mark Rothko, Joan Mitchell, Ian Fairweather and Sally Gabori. The discussion is a springboard to understanding elements of painting in abstract form.
