German Baking class: Apfelstrudel & Brezeln

Join us for a delicious hands-on baking session, where we’ll roll, twist and fill our way through two of Germany’s most beloved treats: Apfelstrudel and Brezeln!

In this friendly and relaxed class, you’ll learn how to make traditional German-style pretzels as well as the classic Apfelstrudel, a dessert with centuries of history.

Did you know? The Apfelstrudel dates back to the Habsburg Empire, a powerful European dynasty that ruled parts of Central Europe (including Austria and Hungary) for over 600 years. The Apfelstrudel became popular in Vienna and has since become a favourite in German-speaking homes. Apfelstrudel is filled with tart apples, raisins, and warm spices, wrapped in delicate pastry. We’ll be using the original hand-stretched dough that’s nothing like the store-bought version.

Brezeln, with their iconic, signature twisted shape, are even older – dating back over 1,000 years to monasteries across Southern Germany and are now a staple at German bakeries and beer gardens.

Whether you’re a beginner or a baking enthusiast, this class is a great way to explore German culture through its flavours - and enjoy the sweet and savoury results together!

No German required - just a love of good food and a sense of curiosity!

Please bring an apron, rolling pin and a container to take home your baked goods!
