Tai Chi  

Tai Chi is a recreational fitness form of flowing movements designed to exercise and develop the body and mind in unison. the movements are preformed in a slow dream-like pace, with deep concentration and diaphragmatic breathing to transport one into a state of tranquil relaxation. Tai Chi uses principles of corrective breathing, controlled stretching and gentle movement to improve strength and balance.

Suitable for all ages.

We have ongoing Tai Chi classes for experienced students.

Yoga

 

We run yoga classes on Tuesday and Friday mornings and Monday and Thursday evenings. Classes are run by different tutors whose own practice and training leads to differences in style and class practice. All draw on various influences learned through their extensive training and experience and are based around the Hatha style.
Yoga
All classes run for 1.25 hours and include a relaxation session.

Stretching and Core Strength

Strength and agility for all levels of fitness - perfect for seniors and younger. 
These sessions are customised to the needs and abilities of the individuals in the group. You will improve strength and flexibility and, therefore, your general health and wellbeing. Classes focus on stretching, core strength and body balance work. Work within your limits in this small class. Bring a mat.
Can try a class for casual rate to see if this suits you (depending on class enrolments.)

Walk & Talk Groups

Walk and Talk

We have three walking groups. The Tuesday group is currently full but there are places in the Wednesday and Thursday groups.

Head off for a walk around the local area.  Group excursions for longer walks are occasionally organised. Larger groups divide into two for those who wish to walk at a brisker pace and for those who require a more gentle amble. All groups meets for coffee and chat afterwards

Wednesdays 9.30-10.30am - strolling group for those who prefer a gentler pace.

Camberwell Community Centre prides itself on providing programs and activities for the local Boroondara community. We offer Adult art, well being, langauge and general interest programs and a variety of adult activity groups. We also offer programs for school aged children. We are a meeting point for many local groups and organisations and offer a variety of rooms and a large hall for hire.
